A Lemur Reads

I'm not really a lemur! I'm a person. I like to read, though - mostly fantasy, sci-fi, raunchy romance, and non-fiction topics like history, philosophy, religion, the sciences, foraging, and raising goats.

Currently reading

Deryni Rising (The Chronicles of the Deryni #1)
Katherine Kurtz
Progress: 10/271 pages
Marguerite Porete: The Mirror of Simple Souls
Marguerite Porete
The Tibetan Book of the Dead: The Great Book of Natural Liberation Through Understanding in the Between

One down, one started

Deryni Rising (The Chronicles of the Deryni #1) - Katherine Kurtz Evolution, Creationism, And Other Modern Myths - Vine Deloria Jr.

I am horrible at both vlogging and blogging - though I like to do both. >.>

First, I finished Deryni Rising a few weeks ago. I definitely should've updated then when I had a more in depth opinion on the book. I'll have to spend some time thinking about what to say without giving out spoilers or some other book reviewer faux pas.

However, I have recently picked up Evolution, Creationism, and Other Modern Myths by Vine Deloria, Jr. This book is a non-fiction book that discusses the debate surrounding teaching evolution vs. teaching creationism - except the purpose of Deloria's book is to take proponents of both sides to task over the White/Christian-centric debate. Literally every page of the book has made me honestly consider not only my opinion, but how much I actually know about the subject. It's a very interesting book!

New favorite series?

Deryni Rising (The Chronicles of the Deryni #1) - Katherine Kurtz

Deryni Rising by Katherine Kurtz is the first book in The Chronicles of the Deryni. I'm not very far into it yet, but I already find myself mentally favoriting the series.

This book was given to me by a dear friend who always has a new fantasy or sci-fi book for me to read. She overheard me discussing GoT (Game of Thrones), and that George R.R. Martin is not a believer in happy endings tied up neatly with a string. I am a fan of "realistic" fantasy, so she said "Well you HAVE to read this series!" So - that's a teaser.

My friend also mentioned that the author is in the Society for Creative Anachronism  - automatic +1 in my book.

As for this booklikes thing... I see myself making a lot more time for reading with this. Also, I feel like I'm behind the game because I don't have a Goodreads or Lovely Books account, so apparently I've got to add books the slow way. Anyone know how to get around that? Is there a way to add google books books (ha!)? Halp?
